Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) manager Luis Enrique offered an emotional tribute to his late daughter, Xana, after his side defeated Inter Milan 5–0 in the UEFA Champions League final to claim the club’s first European title.
Speaking in the post-match press conference, Enrique said:
“It was very emotional with the banner from the fans for my family. But I always think about my daughter. She is always with us. We always think of her, we love her. We carry her forever in our hearts.”
Xana passed away in 2019 at the age of nine following a battle with bone cancer. Since her passing, Enrique has kept her memory close throughout his managerial journey, including his return to football and now his biggest achievement with PSG.
The Champions League win capped off an extraordinary season for PSG, which also included domestic triumphs in Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France. For Enrique, the title made him only the second manager in history to win a continental treble with two different clubs—after Pep Guardiola.
The manager’s heartfelt tribute was met with respect and sympathy from across the football world, adding a deeply human element to one of PSG’s most celebrated nights.
